iCOASST – INTEGRATING COASTAL SEDIMENT SYSTEMS
نویسندگان
چکیده
Coastal areas in England and Wales are at greater risk of flooding and erosion than their landward equivalents. To address these hazards, over the last 20 years, a process to develop long-term Shoreline Management Plans (SMPs) has been developed (Leafe et al., 1998; Cooper et al., 2002; DEFRA, 2006). The spatial boundary of SMPs is defined by coastal cell and sub-cell boundaries (of order 10 2 km), and in temporal terms they consider the implications of coastal change, including climate change, up to 100 years into the future. Hence, SMPs operate at the mesoscale (10 1 to 10 2 km and 10 1 to 10 2 years): collectively the 22 Second Generation SMPs (e.g., Suffolk Coastal District Council, 2010) cover the entire coastline of England and Wales.

Macrobenthos-sediment composition relationships Hormozgan Province coastal waters, Persian Gulf
Macrobenthos are benthic animals that live in or on the bottom sediments which used as a bioindicators to assess the presence of contaminants, in natural aquatic systems. This study aimed to achieve the relationship between sediment composition and macrobenthic communities, distribution. Sampling was done monthly in 2011-12 by a powerboat, and VanVeen grab with 0.04 cross section, were used for...
متن کاملSecond-Pass Assessment of Potential Exposure to Shoreline Change in New South Wales, Australia, Using a Sediment Compartments Framework
The impacts of coastal erosion are expected to increase through the present century, and beyond, as accelerating global mean sea-level rise begins to enhance or dominate local shoreline dynamics. In many cases, beach (and shoreline) response to sea-level rise will not be limited to passive inundation, but may be amplified or moderated by sediment redistribution between the beach and the broader...
متن کاملImproving Sediment Transport Prediction by Assimilating Satellite Images in a Tidal Bay Model of Hong Kong
Numerical models being one of the major tools for sediment dynamic studies in complex coastal waters are now benefitting from remote sensing images that are easily available for model inputs. The present study explored various methods of integrating remote sensing ocean color data into a numerical model to improve sediment transport prediction in a tide-dominated bay in Hong Kong, Deep Bay. Two...
متن کاملCalibration method of numerical models in coastal sediment studies of Kuhmobarak area
Abstract Application of numerical models is useful in coastal sediment studies; however, it is essential to calibrate the models in an appropriate method. Empirical equations, historical satellite imagery and other coastal data and evidence are proposed for the models calibration in the vicinity of coastal indicators around the site of projects. In this study, coastal sediment process of K...
متن کاملIntroducing Sand Bypass System and feasibility study of its application to Iran's Makran ports
Due to coastal areaschr('39') dynamic nature, sediment transport frequently changes the shape and morphology of coastal profiles. During the time, coastal areas adjust their sedimentation regimes to such changes. Although constructing structures such as breakwaters and jetties in coastal areas results in disorder in their natural sedimentation regime. To restore the natural regime, Sand Bypassi...
